The Logo of the Holy Name Society

The logo used by the Archdiocesan Association of Holy Name Societies is based on the work of St. Bernardine of Siena. The logo is strikingly similar to the image St. Bernardine painted on his wooden tablet -- the monogram of the most Holy Name of Jesus surrounded by rays of light. We have added the Latin phrase "Benedictus Nomen Sanctum Iesu" which translates as "Blessed be the Holy Name of Jesus", followed by the Latin response "Benedicamus Domino" which translates as "Bless the Lord".

It is the prayerful intent of the Holy Name Society to humbly follow in the footsteps of St. Dominic, Blessed John of Vercelli, and St. Bernardine of Siena to once again propagate to all of Christ's faithful a very special devotion to the most Holy Name of Jesus and to convince all to embrace this heavenly name and all it signifies.

Prayer of St. Bernardine of Siena

Jesus, Name full of glory, grace, love and strength! You are the refuge of those who repent, our banner of warfare in this life, the medicine of souls, the comfort of those who morn, the delight of those who believe, the light of those who preach the true faith, the wages of those who toil, the healing of the sick. To You our devotion aspires; by You our prayers are received; we delight in contemplating You. O Name of Jesus, You are the glory of all the saints for eternity. Amen.

Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and for ever more!
From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised.
Psalm 113:2-3
