Old Testament and the Most Holy Name

"The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD!"  Job 1:21

"Strike up the instruments, a song to my God with timbrels, chant to the Lord with cymbals; Sing to him a new song, exalt and acclaim his name." Judith 16:1

"Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our fathers, praiseworthy and exalted above all forever; And blessed is your holy and glorious name, praiseworthy and exalted above all for all ages." Daniel 3:52

"I will strengthen them in the Lord, and they shall walk up and down in his Name. " Zechariah 10:12.

" Let not your mouth form the habit of swearing, or becoming too familiar with the Holy Name.  Just as a slave that is constantly under scrutiny will not be without welts, So one who swears continually by the Holy Name will not remain free from sin." Sirach 9-10

"He added beauty to the feasts and solemnized the seasons of each year With string music before the altar, providing sweet melody for the psalms.  So that when the Holy Name was praised, before daybreak the sanctuary would resound." Sirach 47:9-10

"O Lord, you are my God, I will extol you and praise your name; For you have fulfilled your wonderful plans of old, faithful and true."  Isaiah 25:1

"For from the rising of the sun, even to its setting, my name is great among the nations; And everywhere they bring sacrifice to my name, and a pure offering; For great is my name among the nations, says the LORD of hosts." Malachi 1:11

"I will ever praise your NAME and be constant in my prayers to You. Thereupon the LORD heard my voice, he listened to my appeal; He saved me from evil of every kind and preserved me in time of trouble. For this reason I thank Him and I praise Him; I bless the name of the LORD."  Sirach 51: 11-12

"Blessed be God, and praised be his great name, and blessed be all his holy angels.  May his holy name be praised throughout all the ages..." Tobit (Tobias) 11:14

Psalms

"O Lord, our Lord, how awesome is your name through all the earth! You have set your majesty above the heavens!"  Psalm 8:2

"O Lord, our Lord, how awesome is your name through all the earth!" Psalm 8:10

"Sing praise to the Lord, you faithful; give thanks to God's holy name." Psalm 30:5

"For in God our hearts rejoice; in your holy name we trust." Psalm 33:21

"I will bless the LORD at all times; praise shall be always in my mouth.  My soul will glory in the LORD that the poor may hear and be glad.  Magnify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together." Psalm 34: 2-4

"May his name be blessed forever; as long as the sun, may his name endure. May the tribes of the earth give blessings with his name; may all the nations regard him as favored. Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone does wonderful deeds.  Blessed be his glorious name forever; may all the earth be filled with the Lord's glory. Amen and Amen."  Psalm 72: 17-19

"All the nations you have made shall come to bow before you, Lord, and give honor to your name. For you are great and do wondrous deeds; and you alone are God.  Teach me, Lord, your way that I may walk in your truth, single-hearted and revering your name. I will praise you with all my heart, glorify your name forever, Lord my God." Psalm 86: 9-12

"The nations shall revere your name, Lord, all the kings of the earth, your glory." Psalm 102:16

"Then the Lord's name will be declared on Zion, the praise of God in Jerusalem." Psalm 102:22

"Save us, Lord, our God; gather us from among the nations That we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in praising you."  Psalm 106:47

Hallelujah! Praise, you servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord.  Blessed be the name of the Lord both now and forever.  From the rising of the sun to its setting let the name of the Lord be praised.  High above all nations is the Lord; above the heavens God's glory.  Who is like the Lord, our God enthroned on high, looking down on heaven and earth?  The Lord raises the needy from the dust, lifts the poor from the ash heap, Seats them with princes, the princes of the people, Gives the childless wife a home, the joyful mother of children. Hallelujah! Psalm 113

"What shall I render to the Lord for all his bounty to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord." (Psalm 116:12-13).
